More than reading
Dyslexia can make reading tricky for your child, but it can affect many other parts of their life too.
Dyslexia isn't just about difficulty with reading, it can also impact many other areas of your child's life. For instance, your child may have trouble remembering sequences, telling directions apart, or even with language skills.
When your child is young, they may mix up sounds in words - saying “guh-jaffe” instead of “giraffe” - or struggle to rhyme. As they get older, they may have difficulty remembering the sequence of a math equation, or mixing up left and right when following driving directions.
While it's important for your child to receive learning services that help them become better readers, it's also crucial to seek support for these other affected areas as well.
